Miguel Garcia, originally from Mexico, grew up in the outskirts of Houston, TX since the age of 6.  He then received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Spanish and a Masters of Arts in Modern Languages from the University Of Texas A&M where he also was a teaching graduate assistant teaching Spanish in the Hispanic Studies Department.  While at Texas A&M, Miguel received various awards and recognitions to include the Buck Weirus Spirit award, Outstanding Corps Staff Officer, and Outstanding Drill and Ceremony Junior to name a few.  Miguel then received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Oklahoma where he was part of the National Latino Moot Court team, Director of the Deans Council, and received the John B. Cheadle scholarship.

Miguel is currently involved with Big Brothers/Big Sisters program, graduate of the LOYAL 6 class, Board Director for the Latino Community Development Agency, Board of Directors for The Youth Leadership Exchange Program, Rotary Group Study Exchange program to Argentina delegate, spokesperson for the “Espera Mas” campaign, serves as a Coach for the Norman Youth Soccer Association, the Young Lawyers Division representative to the Oklahoma Bar Association Legislative Monitoring committee, and is a member of the Oklahoma Criminal Division Lawyers Association.  Miguel’s primary area of focus is criminal law with immigration consequences but also focuses on political advocacy for the Latino Community in Oklahoma City.

 

Miguel Garcia, originario de México, creció en las afueras de Houston, TX desde los 6 años de edad. Recibió su titulo en ciencias políticas y español, y maestría en lenguajes modernos de la Universidad A&M de Texas, donde también enseñaba Español como asistente de graduados en el Departamento de Estudios Hispanos.  Mientras estudiaba en Texas A&M, Miguel recibió varios premios y reconocimientos incluyendo el premio Buck Weirus Spirit Award, Outstanding Corps Staff Officer y Oustanding Drill and Ceremony Junior, por mencionar algunos.
